Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Patrick McMichael and his family moved to Beaufort, SC when he was seven years old.  With the exception of his college years in Columbia attending the University of South Carolina, Patrick has lived exclusively in Beaufort since jumping the big pond.  A graduate of Beaufort Academy and USC, he started his professional career in real estate before joining longtime friend Chandler Trask to launch Broad River Construction in 1999.  “It seemed a logical progression from the real estate business, and Chandler and I have a lot of colorful history together,” says Patrick. Together they’ve applied the latest construction technologies and creative designs to build more than 100 beautiful homes in the region.

Patrick and his wife Marlot, who works for Wachovia risk Management, have been married for 12 years and are the proud parents of a five year old yellow lab named Ansley. Patrick has served in the office of Commodore as a member of The Beaufort Yacht Club and he is  also a member of the Fripp Island Club.

Every bit a true Irishman, Patrick is well known as a genuine local as he takes great pride in the deep roots he and his family have set in the Beaufort lowcountry. And like his partner Chandler who is also a USC Gamecock, he is a zealous/rabid supporter of his Alma Mater and USC sports, and attends most of the teams gridiron games every year.
